Brown oak mirror
Mirror stand in brown oak with Gothic quatrefoil piercing
This mirror is made of so-called brown oak - the product of a fungus which attacks the growing tree, resulting in a darkening of the wood. That colour change makes it especially desirable among furniture makers.
The piercing and the lancet shape are references to the Gothic revival roots of the Arts and Crafts movement, which was inspired by architects and furniture designers like A.W.N. Pugin, responsible for the interiors of the Houses of Parliament.
